I want to rewind the clock a bit to last month. After returning from a solo excursion to Thailand’s Ko Chang island and  spending a couple of days in Bangkok with my buddy Joe, I wandered north to Laos for a bigger hometown reunion.

This reunion was the whole reason for coming to South East Asia over say, South America. My friend Hannah teaches in Laos; Elle, an Indonesia-based Peace Corps volunteer was going to see her for this supposedly crazy party in Laos–and Joe and I semi-invited ourselves along for the ride.

These were some of my oldest friends, so Pii Mai (literal translation: “throwing water”) was, in addition to being awesome in its own rite, the euphoric highlight of my trip to date.
